Get your Kit Out Campaign

Eastbourne and Willingdon MP Caroline Ansell is joining forces with a local organisation next month to pick up unwanted IT equipment so it can then be given out to local people who need it.

Caroline and her team will be out on 7th November collecting unwanted computers and other tech kit so that it can be repaired, reused and repurposed by Tubbs Computer Supplies for her Get Your Kit Out campaign to tackle the digital divide in the town.

The Community Interest Company (CIC), run by Chris Hunnisett, has already donated 500 computers to older people and low-income families. Caroline is joining the drive to get more equipment out into the community to help children access educational material and older people order online supermarket shopping.

“The pandemic has really highlighted the digital divide for people who cannot afford computers or only have one but it is needed by several members of the family for school work or working from home,” said Caroline.

“I am committed to addressing the digital divide and Tubbs has done a superb job in helping residents across Eastbourne gain access to vital technology.

“I very much hope people in Eastbourne & Willingdon will take a moment think about what IT kit they may have gathering dust in the loft and will donate old computers, laptops and tablets to this cause.

“The digital divide has never been more apparent or more costly than it is now but together, we can make sure no one in our home town is left out or left behind. Donating is one very real, very impactful way of doing that.

“So, please just get in touch so we can turn up and take them off your hands. All hard drives will be either wiped or removed if preferred, so there are no privacy or security worries.”

To donate simply text 07872579328 or email donations@tubbscomputersupplies.org or go to Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/tubbscomputersupplies

Drop off also available by arrangement at 39-41 Upperton Road in Eastbourne.

All equipment is accepted other than CRT monitors and scanners.
